働い on its own is not a form that exists, so that probably explains why the search doesn't get you where you expect.
If you search for forms that do exist, like 働いて or 働き, they should lead you to the verb 働く
(And just to be clear, I'm aware that in native grammar breakdowns, 働い would be a form that exists called the 連用形, allowing it to attach to the conjunctive particle て to form 働いて, but non-native grammar paradigms, like the one used here and in most other non-native resources, treat 働いて as one form and not two things put together.)
働い is a form of the lemma 働く, so it doesn't get its own entry in any dictionary. Just how you wouldn’t give an entry to the gerund of "to work" in english if it were nothing beyond "just the gerund".
wrong definition for 働い
query for 働い (to work), you get back 働きがい (satisfaction with one's work) -- why? please fix.
