I feel like we need more information to be able to answer. The verb "break" in English has a very wide variety of uses, but in Japanese, it differs by the material or other factors.

Unless this is a specific compound verb I'm unaware of with a non-obvious meaning, 裂ける typically refers to something like paper or the surface of an object splitting open or tearing along a seam or something.
